Cinema Persians

Tributes

GRC, NW TOSHIKA'S DAY DREAMER OF CINEMA

It was 1991 and we had been successfully breeding and showing our persians for several years.  We felt it was time to bring a new male into the line and asked our friend CFA Judge Vickie Nye for advise as to what cattery to choose.   Vickie thought we should contact Penny Nordman of Toshika Cattery. Penny was breeding some of the best cats in the nation and had already had CFA Cat of the Year.     We called Penny who very nicely told us that she had a two year waiting list for top show cats.  Since it was going to be our new male we wanted the best cat we could buy.  As the conversation progressed, Penny said that she did have a "breeder" male.  He was not top show, but had great blood lines and she could offer him to us.  He was just a kitten and had been shaved, but that was all she had.  We immediately agreed to buy him.  Penny agreed to keep us on the list for a better male, which would probably be two years.

As it turned out there was a weather restriction in place and it would be four months before Penny could ship our new boy.  She called every week telling us that he was getting better and better and could not believe how he was changing.   In addition, his coat was coming in and she was very impressed.

Dreamer arrived one week before he turned 8 months and we could not believe our eyes.   Here was one of the best cats we had ever seen and he was in full coat and ready to show.  He granded immediately and we began showing him as an adult.  He won just about every show he went to.    A few months later Penny called and asked what our intentions were with Dreamer.  We were unaware he was already one of the highest cats in the nation and a national win was well within reach.  We could not believe it!

Dreamer never flew.  That year we logged 100,000 miles on our car and finished showing Dreamer well before the end of the season.  He ended up CFA's 13th Best Cat for the 1992/1993 show season.  After we finished showing Dreamer he rested into his new position as our cattery's new sire and began producing the best cats we had ever bred.

In 1994 a house fire claimed the lives of many of our cats........... including Dreamer.   We were so lucky to have him in our lives and our breeding program, although it was for a very short time,

Dreamer:  We love you, miss you and and feel so lucky to have known you.
